DILI, 23 October 2025 (TATOLI) – President and Nobel Peace Laureate, Jose Ramos-Horta has expressed his profound sadness on the passing of Raila Amolo Odinga, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya.
President Ramos-Horta has sent a formal message of condolence to William Samoei Ruto, the President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces.
In his message, President Ramos-Horta paid tribute to the late former Prime Minister, saying, : “Former Prime Minister Odinga will be remembered not only for his steadfast dedication to public service and his pivotal leadership during Kenya’s democratic development but also for his remarkable courage, resilience, and lifelong commitment to justice, human rights, and democratic freedoms.”
“His role as a champion of multiparty democracy and political reform leaves a legacy that will continue to inspire generations of Kenyans and leaders across Africa and the world,” said the Head of State in a statement.
President Ramos-Horta concluded his message by expressing his hope that may the spirit of Mr. Raila Odinga rest in peace, and may the memory of his tireless devotion to his nation, his unwavering moral courage, and his vision for democracy endure as a beacon of hope and guidance.
