Govt reviews proposed investment agreement with Indonesia

DÍLI, 07 October 2026 (TATOLI) — The Council of Ministers on Wednesday analyzed a preliminary presentation of the Agreement between the Government of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia on the Promotion and Protection of Investments during its meeting at the Government Palace in Dili.
The initiative seeks to deepen investment ties between the two countries by improving conditions for investors and promoting increased flows of capital and technology.
“The Agreement aims to establish more favourable conditions for investment between the two countries by providing a framework for the protection and treatment of investments, streamlining procedures, and mechanisms for resolving any disputes,” said in a statement.
The statement concluded that the agreement would strengthen investor confidence, promote the flow of capital and technology, and contribute to economic development and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation.
