DILI, 12 january 2026 (TATOLI) – The 2026 Dili International Marathon will be held in August with a national selection race in May, dates to be confirmed very soon, Dili International Marathon Organizing Committee has announced.
This year, the event will be held under the theme championed by the President of the Republic: “Love our Forests and Wildlife”, highlighting Timor-Leste’s unique biodiversity.
Over the coming months, the country’s remarkable flora and fauna—from the mighty sandalwood and Pygmy Blue Whale to the delicate coffee cherry flower—will be showcased through the marathon’s official channels, allowing the world to discover and appreciate Timor-Leste’s natural treasures.
Organizers emphasized that conservation, protection, and sustainability will be key priorities for the Dili International Marathon EXPO, which will precede the event. The EXPO aims to engage civil society and the international community in support of the President’s 2026 theme.
“We are also very excited to confirm that runners will be invited to fundraise for community led re-forestation projects and two very special event partners that represent Timor-Leste at the highest level locally and globally,” the committee said in a statement.
