DILI, 04 March 2026 – The President of the Republic, José Ramos-Horta, on Wednesday appointed Natália Carrascalão as Timor-Leste’s Permanent Representative to the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP).
Carrascalão previously served as an adviser at the Presidency of the Republic and as Timor-Leste’s Ambassador to Singapore.
In a separate appointment, the Head of State also named Jesuína Gomes as Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
Gomes had been serving as Chief of Staff of the Civil House at the Presidency of the Republic.
The Council of Ministers on Wednesday approved a draft Decree-Law proposing the second amendment to the current Government’s Organic Law to formally include the position of Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
Gomes had also been serving as Ombudsperson for Human Rights and Justice.
The swearing-in ceremony for both appointments will take place on Tursday at the Presidential Palace in Dili.
