DILI, 03 October 2019 (TATOLI) – the President of the National Authority of Petroleum and Minerals, Gualdino da Silva, said the ANMP will embark on a six-month world tour to promote the Timor-Leste resources sector.

The announcement comes after the release of a public tender for 18 new oil exploration blocks.

“We will organize the trip to all the petroleum industry centers in the world…so people can come and invest through the public tender,” the president said after the close of Timor’s inaugural Oil and Gas Summit.

Mr Gualdino said ANPM staff will travel to London, Singapore, Australia, the Middle East and China to promote the tender.

“We will explain to them the resources that we have, [our] investment environment, about the legal regime, contractual regime and tax regime, as well as what we can do to attract the investor,” he said.

Timor-Leste initiated the International Conference of Petroleum and Gas to promote networking between TL and petroleum investors.

The new blocks for oil and gas exploration comprise of 11 sites in Tasi Mane, off Timor’s south coast, and seven on land.
