WFP Flight Operation arrives in Dili bringing 61 passengers with Personal protective equipment

DÍLI, 06 august 2020 (TATOLI) – A World Food Program (WFP) flight operated by Malaysia Airlines landed at about 3:30 p.m. at Nicolau Lobato International Airport in Dili on Wednesday, 05 bringing with it 61 passengers and personal protective items, including 469,000 masks.

“This Airlines makes the air connections to Timor-Leste twice a month. On Wednesday, the plane had a total of 61 passengers and equipment, such as masks,” WFP head Dageng Liu told Tatoli Agency at the Nicolau Lobato Airport in Dili.

Mr. Liu said that the WFP flight carried 61 passengers from various organizations, among other institutions, the Peace Corps, the Embassy of South Korea, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MNEC), the World Bank, the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA), the Camões Institute, Care International, Mercy Corps , Pladium International, Catholic Relief Service (CRS) and the European Union.

He added today is another important day as this WFP flight brought on board of 469,000 masks, which are a majority of normal models and the rest are N95 models, intended primarily for health care professionals.

“I thank Alibaba for continuing to provide support, including the personal protective items,” he said.

Dageng Liu also said that all passengers coming from the WFP flight will comply with the mandatory confinement in several hotel units provided by the Timorese Government, also stressing that support will be maintained in the delivery of more masks.
