DILI, 06 october 2020 (TATOLI)–President Francisco Guterres Lú Olo has issued a decree-law regarding a measure to support families through “basic Staple food” via local economic operators. This is within the scope of the economic recovery plan to create a special regime and adequate provisions.
The draft has controlling mechanisms and conditions for the implementation of this particular measure. Families are given support through the distribution of “basic staple foods” produced by the local agriculture sector and commercial operators who trade in food production, national and local individual hygiene with the perspective for the economic stimulus for the short term and the production initiative in the local and national level.
The basic staple is composed of essential foods and hygiene products which are purchased using a voucher that corresponds to the goods. All members within a household will receive the support and would have registered in the household lists until 11 of may 2020.
The government will start to distribute the basic staple from november through to december 2020. The amount for basic staple is $25 for every member of the household for two months.
This project will be implemented through the Minister for Coordinator of Economic Issue alongside with the public relevant ministries and other non-administration institutes.
The members of Government who are responsible for Health will do validations on these products to know its nutritional value and whether or not it is sanitary. The Ministry of Administration is responsible for the lists of households, to ensure there are correct levels of distribution.
