Dili, 12 October 2020 (TATOLI)- The Cooperative Secretary has set a date in the calendar for the basic staple food that will be supplied shortly.
‘’Looking at the calendar, and correlating that with the basic survey data it have been decided, that costumers will be able to buy the local products via the basic foot staple system on November 30, this year,” Said The Cooperative Secretary, Elizário Ferreira at Hanai Malu Federation in Bairru Pité.
The staple foods are local rice, soy and green beans, peanuts and others.
The total budget to be used to buy the products is $24 million, and this price also includes operational costs to ensure all activities going well.
The distribution process will be implemented in all territories during the second week of December.
Sekoope will be responsible for distributing the “basic basket” to six municipalities which are Aileu, Ainaro, Covalima, Same, Manatto and Liquiça.
Members of the cooperative will organise the activities to buy staples foods.
“The cooperative will do this as they have a certified legal licence from the Ministry of Justice,” he said.
Mr Ferreira said the participants must already have registered their name to be suppliers of the local food products.
‘’currently, we have 42 registered groups who are willing to supply the local foods products, the project of Basic staple food is not only the responsibility of Sekoop but also small local companies that can open their door to buy and distribute the foods,” he said.
