DILI, 26 october 2020 (TATOLI)— The Line of the Ministries are now preparing to implement the program of the basic staple in all territories in Timor-Leste, which will come into action during the second week of December.
After the President of Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo has issued the decree-law draft regarding the measure to support families over the distribution of basic staple foods as part of the scope of delivery for the economic recovery plan.
The items that will be included in the basic staple foods packet come from the Agricultural production and the national commercial operators.
“The local food products will be placed in the basket” which are recyclables boxes these will then be distributed to the communities in the rural areas. For the city of Dili, the government will distribute vouchers, and the beneficiaries will be able to go to the markets which have been selected by the government,” he said. According to the plan, the Government will launch this program from Metinaro, Dili Municipality today (27/10/2020).
This measure is to support economic stimulus for the short term, and at the same time, it can help to increase the production and commercial in the local and national level.
MTKI has the responsibility to make distribution of the food to the communities, in spite the Environmental Secretary will find the organic plastic to fill the products.
Basic Staple is composed of the essential foods and hygiene products or the voucher that responds to the cost of the goods.
Every households’ that has been registered in the Households book from May 11, 2020, will be the ability to receive this government programs, which every member of the families will receive one food basket contains local products or Voucher with the cost of $25 for two months November and December.
The program will be led by the Minister of Economy Coordinator, working together with the relevant entities.
Minister of Health will also join to conduct validation for the lists of the products to know its nutrition and sanitation from every food product.
Minister of State Administration will cooperate with authorities and municipal administration to take the lists of every household and the total member of every family that will be a beneficiary for this program.
Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion will share the national network and the centre of the social solidarity in the entire municipalities for the support of the basic staple.
