DILI, 11 november 2020 (TATOLI)–President of Timor-Leste, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo praised the Representative to Timor-Leste from the United Nation Children Fund (UNICEF). Valérie Taton has was commended on the excellent work she has been doing throughout her three-year deployment as the UNICEF Representative to Timor-Leste.
Lú Olo offered this statement during an audience with the Representative of UNICEF at his Presidential office in Dili.
The President said that Timor-Leste would continue to cooperate with UNICEF in the implementation of programs throughout the nation.
UNICEF representative Valérie Taton thanked the President for his recognition and support of the works which has been done through UNICEF to strengthen its cooperation service.
“I came here to inform the President of Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo, with updated reports of the progress made during my three-year mission to Timor-Leste,” Ms Taton told the journalist at the President’s Palace.
She added that UNICEF had implemented several programs across the areas of education, health and nutrition among child. She also spoke of the irradiation of problems faced in Timor-Leste, which received excellent results. A highlighted program of success included Sanitation, and the hygiene program, which was supported by UNICEF for the governments accelerated plans to eliminate open-defecation by providing the education to society, to help rid the nation of diseases.
Valérie, who has been working in Timor-Leste since august 2017, will continue in a similar role in the African Region.
