Parliament Authorized  the Renewal for the State of Emergency

DÍLI, 3 december, 2020 (TATOLI) – Parliament National has authorized the President of Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo to issue the level eight of State Emergency for another 30 days.

The parliament discussed on Thursday (03/12/2020) the proposal from the Government regarding the extension for the State of Emergency, which resulting 46 votes for agreed, three abstention and zero against.

“The law projected for the Renewal of the SE was approved by the Parliament. The Government must implement and guarantee the public health, in the prevention and fight against covid-19”, The President of the Parliament, Aniceto Guterres, in the plenary session.

It is recalled that the Head of State had made a request to the Parliament to authorize the renewal of the VIII level of the state of emergency, with a duration of 30 days, starting at 00:00, on 4 December and will end at 23:59 of January 2, 2021.

The measure outlines in the level  8th State of Emergency are the suspension for the rights, of international circulation, freedom of movement and resistance, the implementation of sanitary control at the entrance and exit doors, in order to avoid the risk of spreading the virus.

The Public Authority will impose necessary restrictions to reduce the risk of transmission by using preventative measures to combat the pandemic. These measures include maintaining social distance, housing those who test positive to the disease in isolation centres, the mandatory quarantine for people arriving from abroad, wearing masks, washing hands and physical distance.
