DILI, 28 january 2021 (TATOLI) – Parliament National has authorized the President of Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo to issue new State Emergency for another 30 days.
The parliament discussed today the emergency proposal from the Government which resulting 50 votes for agreed, three abstentions and zero against.
“The proposal is approved by the Parliament. The Government has the right to guarantee the public health, in the prevention and fight against covid-19”, The President of the Parliament, Aniceto Guterres, in the plenary session.
It is recalled that the Head of State had made a request to the Parliament to authorize the renewal of state emergency for 30 days, starting on February 2 to March 3, 2021.
The measure outlines in the level 8th State of Emergency are the suspension for the rights, of international circulation, freedom of movement and resistance, the implementation of sanitary control at the entrance and exit doors, in order to avoid the risk of spreading the virus.
The Public Authority will impose necessary restrictions to reduce the risk of transmission by using preventative measures to combat the pandemic. These measures include maintaining social distance, housing those who test positive to the disease in isolation centers, the mandatory quarantine for people arriving from abroad, wearing masks, washing hands and physical distance.
