DILI, 4 january, 2021 (TATOLI) – The Secretariat of State for the Environment (SEA) intends adopt two strategies to eliminate and gradual reduction of the plastics.
The Secretary of State for the Environment (SEA), Demétrio do Amaral de Carvalho, explained that the strategy intends to completely eliminate certain types of plastic, while the other strategy consists of the progressive abandonment of this material.
Carvalho said that the SEA has a listed down of the types of plastics to be eliminated, stressing that several actions is to raise awareness and sharing the information on the importance of avoiding plastic bags.
He added that the SEA is currently preparing a ministerial diploma, which is expected to be released in April, in order to regulate the import of plastics, water bottles up to 600 ml.
According Carvalho SEA will meet with the relevant authorities in order to present the list of products that will be targeted for the elimination.
The Secretary of State had previously stated that companies involved in economic activities should proceed, in early 2021, to replace all material prohibited by SEA.
