DILI, 11 march 2021 (TATOLI)- Timor-Leste Ambassador to Cambodia, Hermenegildo Kupa Lopes said, universities in Cambodia wish to offer the scholarships to Timorese students to study in Cambodia.
“In Cambodia, many universities wish to offer the scholarships to the students from Timor-Leste in Bachelor degree, Master and Doctoral degrees.,” Timorese Ambassador Lopes told Tatoli on Thursday via phone.
according to Lopes, 20 students from Timor-Leste are currently studying in Cambodia, these students are the scholarships from the Government of Timor-Leste as well as the NGO from Cambodia in Timor-Leste.
“Majority of these students studying in Cambodia University in the area of Tourism, Economy and others, despite of COVID-19, the condition of these students is fine and our work is to continue communicate with these students to fulfill the rule impose by the government to prevent ourselves from the virus,” Lopes said.
at the same time Cambodian Government has taken the serious action to settle and prevent the rising of the covid-19 outbreak in Cambodia.
However, he said he had visited many places and met with Cambodian leaders who express their commitment in supporting Timor-Leste’s accession to the ASEAN.
“The Prime Minister of Cambodian has oriented the executive members to support Timor-Leste accession to ASEAN and according to their point of view Timor-Leste is at the green light to join ASEAN, “he said.
