Care International to provide nutritive foods to schools in four municipalities through HATUTAN program

Dili, 16 march, 2021 (TATOLI) – Care International Non-Government organization (NGO) cooperates with its partners to implementing on going food support HATUTAN project to contribute for students nutrition in Ermera, Liquica, Ainaro and Manatutu.

National Director for Social Action School (DNASE), Joaquim Martins, said Care international is implementing the HATUTAN food program to supply rice, beans and cooking oil  to support the school feeding program as well the contribution for the nutrition.

“The estimated fund will not only benefits to students from 440 school within four municipalities, but it will also support the communities living closes to the school environment,” Martins told the journalists at MEJD, Vila Verde, this Tuesday.

He said the programs implemented in these four schools are different from others. besides from getting the rice, beans and cooking oil, they have received the fund from the government for the school feeding program.

“The others municipalities would not get foods but they can get fund  and every students has $.0.25 per day.” He added

HATUTAN program was officially launched on june 11, 2019, with the purpose to improve  the nutrition and health of the students accross 440 schools including community living close to the schools environment. The program also supporting the farmers to increase their local production through providing the nutritive local food products to the schools and contribute to their incomes.

This program is to support farmers to get their important agriculture equipment for the training activities.

The program is funded by the U.S Ministry of Agriculture through foods international program and infant education Mc Govern-Dole, implemented by Care international working with The Ministry of Education of Timor-Leste, Mercy Crops and Water Aid with the duration of five years.
