Timor-Leste reports 22 covid cluster cases linked to march 7 outbreak

DILI, 16 march , 2021 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Health on March 16 reported five cases of Covid-19 of which were linked to march 7, 15 and 16 community transmission, bringing the total to 104 in less than a month.

Of the five transmission cases two are Timorese man and three are women- one is 11-year-old and the rest are between 32 and 42 years old.

According to the Coordinator of the Covid-19 crisis team, Rui Maria de Araujo, among the five cases, two positive patients with symptoms while the rest are asymptoatic.

One case was detected inTerra Santa village and is linked to the early outbreak at the BTN II. The patient testing positive at the 2nd test After confinement.

In addition, there is one more active case in 05 area Fatuhada village, a health professional from the HNGV of the Hemodialysis Unit, linked to the group of the Secretary of State for Professional Training and Employment (SEFOPE).

Another two cases were identified at the 20 de Setembro, Bebonuk. The patients were having the close contact with the previous patient from Same. From these two cases comes the emergence of one of the outbreaks in Baucau, Uailili, which was announced two days before.

There is another new cluster which is from Avanca area, Bairro Pité village. The woman is a contact of the previous positive patient from 04 de Setembro who was got infected by her husband who is working as employee at the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

As of March 7, until today, Timor-Leste had recorded a total of 104 Covid-19 cases with 77 in Dili receiving ongoing treatment and 104 having been discharged from the hospital.
