DILI, 15 march 2021 (TATOLI)— The government has decided to temporarily suspend face-to-face classes and school activities in Dili, Viqueque and Baucau until the end of the Isolation Zone and Mandatory Home quarantine periods.
The Government extension for the Isolation zone in Dili until April 2 while for Baucau and Viqueque until march 29 of this year.
“The Three municipalities have imposed the Isolation zone and mandatory home confinement; hence the Ministry of Education will not issue any amendment, despite to suspend the learning process across there municipalities,” Minister of Education, Armindo Maia said on Monday after the Council of Ministers meeting.
The decision was made after the presentation of the epidemiological situation in Timor-Leste by the CIGC authority.
Minister Maia said, the Technical team from the ME has been discussing the online schools via televisions to the entire students in the three municipalities.
“We have implemented the online learning process and will continue to do so; meanwhile the Ministry is discussed on how to develop better online school system,” he said.
Under the isolation zone rules all individuals are required to remind at home except when necessary to leave fo essential purposes namely for medical reasons, to present complaints to the Ministeriu publico, the ombudsman for Human Rights and Justice or any police station, to participate in police or judicial processes, to purchase essential goods and services or to fulfill professional obligations that have not been waived by the employer.
