U.S to supports $1.6 million to Timor-Leste in response to covid-19

DILI, 25 march, 2021 (TATOLI) – The United States of America (USA) Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Charles Kevin Blackstone, said the USA will financially support Timor-Leste in the fight against covid-19. 

“The United States of America will support Timor-Leste with US $ 1.6 million in the prevention of covid-19, in addition to the supports had provided to Timor-Leste last year,” Ambassador Blackstone told the journalists after meeting with the Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak at the Palacio do Governo.

Mr Blackstone revealed that this fund will be used to prevent the new coronavirus and to control Timor-Leste’s borders.

It is recalled that, on June 10, 2020, the former Ambassador of the United States of America, Kathleen Fitzpatrick, had already addressed the issue of US assistance to the Head of State, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo.
