DILI, april 07, 2021 (TATOLI) – China Ambassador to Timor Leste, Xiao Jianguo and Overseas Chinese in Timor-Leste expresses deepest sympathy and condolences for the victims effected by the natural disasters in Timor-Leste.
“Timor-Leste has recently been hit by heavy torrential rains and floods unseen in many years, which at least killed 34 people and displaced about 8000 people, and inflicted heavy property loss, The Chinese Embassy and Overseas Chinese in Timor-Leste wish to express our deep condolences and sympathies,” Ambassador Xiao Jianguo said in a statement.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of those who lost their life, or suffered injuries or damage to houses and businesses,” Mr Xiao Jian Guo added.
With regards to the issue, The China community and some organizations have been mobilized to make donations to people of Timor-Leste.
the Donation comprise of fund, basic needs and the Construction materials, donated from Chinese Merchants Union in Timor-Leste (CUAT), Federation of Chinese Youth Professional Association in Timor-Leste (FCYPA-TL) and China Trade Association of Timorese (ACCCTO).
“The embassy is trying its best to help Timor-Leste, and china people stands firmly with it in the difficult situation faced by people of Timor-Leste,” Mr. Xiao Jian Guo said.
The Secretary of State for Civic Protection, Joaquim José Gusmão dos Reis Martins thanked Chinese generosity as well as the timely support, as the support is needed for many of effected people by the natural disaster.
Mr Gusmão added that all the donations will be distributed timely for effected people in the effected areas as they really need the support during this difficult situation to bring them back to normal life.
