DILI, 07 april 2021 (TATOLI)- The number of people killed in the flooding caused by the torrential rains, rose to 42 on Wednesday,the nation’s disaster management agency said.
Authorities said of the number 22 people from Dili and the other 22 fatalities were reported from the municipalities of Maubisse, Ainaro, Aileu, Viqueque, Manatuto.
However, in Ainaro ten people have confirmed died with five are missing in flood.
Manatuto has also recorded five deaths while four are missing in flood.
In Viqueque records three deaths during the flood with two are reported from Aileu Municipality.
“Until today total death caused by heavy flooding has climbed to 42 and some are still missing,” The Civil Protection Secretary (SEPS), Joaquim Gusmã the SEPS Hall Caicoli Dili.
Authority also reports 2.375 households and 9.779 residents across Dili were forced to evacuate within Dili.
