China offers 100,000 doses of the Sinovac vaccine to Timor-Leste

DILI, april 22, 2021 (TATOLI) – China’s Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Xiao Jianguo, met with the Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, to present the latest advances in cooperation between the two countries in the process of vaccination in Timor-Leste.

The Chinese government will support Timor-Leste with 100,000 doses of the Sinovac vaccine.

“The Government of China is committed to granting 100,000 doses of the Sinovac vaccine against covid-19 made in China to Timor-Leste,” China’s Ambassador Jianguo said in Palacio do Governo Dili.

Mr. Jianguo stressed that this vaccine is essential for Chinese citizens residing in Timor-Leste.

“I hope that this donation can strengthen the capacity of the Timorese in combating the covid-19 and provide a quick recovery of the economy, as well as of the recent floods”, he said.

He also recalled that The Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak has thanked China’s consistent support of the country’s current fight against the covid-19.

At the same time, he said, the Sinovac vaccine will arrive in Timor-Leste sooner to speed up the vaccination program in the country.
