DILI, 22 april, 2021 (TATOLI)– The Secretary of State for Civil Protection (SEPC), Joaquim José Gusmão dos Reis Martins, participated yesterday in the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding between the Timor-Leste Red Cross (TLRC) and the oil company Santos, in the TLRC building.
The Representative from the Santos Company, José Lobato, said that Santos is committed to helping the Timorese affected by the floods, so it supports TLRC, a partner in civil protection.
“The support, with the amount of more than 250 thousand Australian dollars (about 195 thousand American dollars), aims to support the TLRC service in Timor-Leste”, José Lobato, said.
TLRC’s President, Madalena Hanjam, thanked the oil company Santos, represented by José Lobato, for the initiative to help the Timor-Leste Red Cross.
“The TLRC will work together with the Timorese Government, through civil protection and the other ministries, to ensure the distribution of food products to the victims of the natural disaster,” he said.
Currently, 6,000 volunteers from different villages and villages across the country support TLRC’s humanitarian service on the ground after the April 4 storm.
