DILI, 26 april 2021 (TATOLI)– The Superior Council for Defense and Security (CSDS) and the State Council (SC) today recommended to the President of the Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo, to requests the Parliament National for the Extension of the State of Emergency for another 30 days to face the current epidemiological situation experienced in the country.
“At the meeting, the two councils proposed to the Head of State to forward a letter of the government request to the Parliament to discuss and decides the extension for the state of emergency,” The Head the Presidential Staff, Francisco Vasconcelos, said after the meeting at the Presidential Palace.
He added that the government requests are since the number of the covid-19 cases are continued to increase every day following the report from the Covid-19 Integrated and Management Center.
The CIGC on Sunday recorded 89 new local covid cases with 29 recoveries thus the country’s total active cases is 1.016.
Since the start of the pandemic on March 2020 the country has logged a total of 1.897 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 3 deaths, the MoH said.
Mr. Vasconcelos said concerning The measures of the state of emergency will be decided by the government once the Parliament National agrees to extend the state of emergency.
The official stressed, finally, that the Head of State will send the respective letter to the National Parliament for discussion.
