The Head of the Revolutionary Front of Independent Timor-Leste (FRETILIN), Francisco Miranda Branco, said that the number of deaths in India has increased due to a lack of control by the relevant authorities, so Timor-Leste should not follow the example of this country.

“I do not want the same thing to happen in Timor-Leste as it does now in India, it is necessary to extend the state of emergency and continue to implement the rules of the World Health Organization (WHO), among others,” Mr. Branco said.

Also, the head of  the Democratic Unity Development Party (PUDD), António de Sá Benavidez, asked the Government to reinforce the fight against covid-19 in Timor-Leste and called on the population to comply with the rules from the WHO and the Ministry of Health (MS).

Timor-Leste is now under the level 12th of Emergency but the country’s daily records of covid-19 are continued to increase.
