COVID-19: Government establish isolation zone in three municipalities

DILI, 29 April 2021 (TATOLI)- The Government of Timor-Leste established today a sanitary fence for the municipalities of Lautem, Liquiça, and Manufahi between April 30 in force until May 16, 2021.

“This is to limit the movement of people from these municipalities and other municipalities and post administrative, except for certain essential purposes, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, such as seek medical assistance, provide assistance to others who require it for medical reasons, to present complaints to the Ministerio Publico, the ombudsman for Human Rights and Justice or any police station, to participate in police or judicial processes, to purchase essential goods and services or to fulfill professional obligations that have not been waived by the employer,” The President for the Council of Minister, Fidelis Leite Magalhães said.

Likewise, the Council of Ministers approves the resolution for the renewal of the sanitary fence in the other six municipalities, Ainaro, Baucau, Dili, Ermera, Covalima, and Viqueque for 14 more days in force until May 16, 2021.

Magalhães said the government established the sanitary fence to limit the movement of people within these municipalities and except if the person has the authorization from the CIGC.
