DILI, april 29, 2021 (TATOLI) – The COVID-19 Crisis Center, announces 66 local cases of coronavirus in Dili and 47 recoveries bring the total country’s active infections 1,123.
The Coordinator of the COVID Crisis Center (CIGC), Rui de Araújo, said that the country has 2,190 confirmed cases and three deaths since the outbreak began in Timor- Leste.
Among today’s cases, 31 were identified following the requests for traveling authorization.
He added that of the total number recorded today 42 are men and 24 are women, with ten patients have symptoms and the rest are asymptomatic.
“Since yesterday the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has carried out 952 laboratory tests, 34 of were tested through sentinel surveillance, 112 of contact screening, 236 of random screening, 475 of requests to leave Dili Municipality, 33 for international trips and 62 in quarantines,” he said.
Mr. Araújo also said, 25 patients, are under the treatment at the Vera Cruz Isolation Center, including 12 in the obstetrics room, 12 in internal medicine, and three in pediatrics. Five are considered in a severe condition while ten under moderate conditions.
Meanwhile, Baucau registered the highest number of cases in the municipality which is 92. The numbers in this municipality have caused alarm as it was under lockdown for many days and only emergency vehicles movement in and out of the province was permitted.
Covalima has also recorded 52 positive cases, bringing the municipality total to 52.
Manufahi 52, Ermera 43 cases, Ainaro 17, Liquiçá 14, Viqueque 14, Lautém 12, RAEOA seven, Aileu has six cases, While Manatuto registered the lowest number of cases in the past few days with five positive cases.
The CIGC also reiterated its appeal to the entire population in Dili, Baucau, and Viqueque as well as other municipalities maintain to remain calm and ensure that they comply with covid-19 protocol, by washing their hands with soap, check their temperature, and maintain physical distance.
