Timor-Leste records 129 new covid-19 infections and 69 recoveries

DILI, may 4, 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste on Tuesday recorded 129 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, raising its total active cases to 1,315 said the CIGC statement.

The new infections included 27 municipalities’ cases, with 102 of them reported in the capital Dili, and 76.7% of patients are asymptomatic.

Regarding the new active cases in the municipalities, Aileu registered one, Covalima one, Bobonaro two, Viqueque four, Lautem Six, and Baucau 13.

The CIGC Coordinator, Rui Araújo said, among the infections announced today, 89 are men and 40 women.

Mr. Araújo added that 56 cases were detected following the requests for traveling authorization.

The National Health Laboratory (LNS) has carried out 1,005 laboratory tests since yesterday, 62 tests were performed through sentinel surveillance, 104 for contact screening, 348 for random screening, 422 requests for departure from the Municipality of Dili, 39 for international traveling, and 30 in quarantines. In addition, 464 tests were carried out in the municipalities.

Authority also reported 69 recovery cases today.

Timor-Leste has officially reported a total of 2,653 confirmed COVID-19 cases since the coronavirus pandemic hit the country in March last year, with four deaths and 1,265 recoveries, according to the official data.
