Plan International hand over humanitarian package to the families affected by the floods

DILI, 10 may 2021 (TATOLI) – Plan International hand over humanitarian packages to support families affected by recent inundation through Secretary State of Civil Protection.

The package includes kitchen utensils such as 620 plates, 620 water boil pans, 620 spoons, 620 cups, and cookware; others include 620 blankets, 620 buckets, and 620 pcs sleeping pads.

There are 1.350 IEC materials and information on COVID-19 prevention also part of the package, to be distributed to the community.

These supports are directly handed over by the Deputy Director of Plan International for Timor-Leste (TL), Fátima Estrela Soares to the Secretary of State for Civil Protection (SEPS), Joaquim Gusmão, at SEPS office Caicoli Dili, This Monday.

Fatima Estrela Soares said the project is funded by Star Fund for $40 .000 to support the government in responding to the disaster in Timor-Leste.

Thus the items will distribute to the vulnerable families affected by Natural Disaster in three municipalities which have been identified by the SEPS and Plan International including the 220 families in Dili, 200 families in Ainaro, and 200 in Aileu, which is equal to 620 families.

The SEPS Secretary, Joaquim Gusmão thanked the solidarity support from Plan International to the victims of the natural disaster at the difficult time. 

From the beginning of the natural disaster, Plan International has cooperated with various ministries to provide emergency supports to the victims in the evacuation center.
