DILI, may 17, 2021 (TATOLI) – The East Timorese and North American governments will sign a Dili Development Assistance Agreement (DOAG) in the amount of US $ 17.9 million tomorrow. Americans, out of an estimated total of $ 92.3 million.
According to the note, the financial contribution for the next five years – between 2021 and 2025 – aims to strengthen the health, good governance, and non-oil sectors, such as tourism, agriculture, and the economy, the sectors considered to have the most potential for diversification of the economy and in need of development.
The Minister of Finance, Rui Gomes, will be represented by Timor-Leste to sign the agreement with The USA representing by the Mission Director of the North American Agency for International Development (USAID), James Wright.
The signing of the ceremony will be witnessed by the Deputy Minister of Finance, Sara Lobo Brites, the Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fidélis Magalhães, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adaljiza Magno, and the Minister of Health, Odete Belo, among others.
USAID Director James Wright is accompanied by the US Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Charles Kevin Blackstone.
