According to the recent data reports from the MoH, after the arrival of 20 thousand doses of AstraZeneca vaccine from Australia, the MoH launched the second phase of vaccination campaigns on May 5 with more than 14,900 people in Dili have already received the first dose.

The administration of the second phase of vaccine gives priority to the population over 60 years old and to people with commodities.

However, the Minister of Health has already planned to continue to administer the vaccine down to the other municipalities.

According to the epidemiological report, the prevalence of the proportion of detected cases in the last week increased from 13% to 19%. For six days, between 10 and 15 May, 3,101 people performed tests following requests to leave Dili Municipality and 16% tested positive.

The data shows that the current prevalence rate in Dili is between 14.8% and 17.4%, compared to the values between 9.9% and 12.2% in the previous week.

“Based on estimate population Dili has 352,553 inhabitants – of the number about 50,000 infected with covid-19,” Following the document from the MoH epidemiological.

The Coordinator of the COVID-19 management crisis, Rui de Araújo, said that, regarding the evolution of the outbreak in the country, the incidence rate of 19 is, on average, in the last week, 13.4 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, being in Dili 41.9 per 100 thousand. The incidence shows that Dili constitutes a place of risk of contagion of SARS-CoV-2.

The incidence rate illustrates the progressive increase in active cases in Timor-Leste.

Previously, in 384 days, it preceded a thousand cases, but more recently, in just 17 days, it went from one thousand to 2 thousand, in 11 days, from 2 to 3 thousand cases, and lastly, in just six days, the number of infections rose from 3,000 cases to 4,000.

It is recalled that the first batch of vaccines from AstraZeneca, in a total of 24 thousand doses, arrived on April 5 in Timor-Leste.

The COVAX facility financed the 20% related to the procurement of the first AstraZeneca vaccine for seven million US dollars. This percentage is equivalent to about 263 thousand doses. The administration of the first batch of the vaccine reached 28,678 people across the territory in the first vaccination campaign against covid-19.
