DILI, 02 June 2021 (TATOLI) – Secretary State for Civil Protection (SSCP), Joaquim Gusmão on Wednesday informed 19.185 (63%)of victims out of 10.400 victims affected by the natural disaster have received support from the Government, saying that they remain are 11.035 (37%) victims.
“The humanitarian assistance provided by the Government Secretary of State for Civil Protection (SSCP) has reached a total of 19.185 victims while the remaining are 11.035 have not yet been receiving the supports,” he said.
Gusmão said the humanitarian assistance including food and non-food items which has been provided to the victims in Dili and other municipalities.
According to Gusmão, the supports for the victims are coming from Partnerships countries including various international organizations, United National Development Program (UNDP), Care International, International Migration Organization (IOM), Oxfam, World Vision, World Food Program (WFP), and others.
According to Mr. Gusmão, until May 31, 2021, SSCP has registered 3.220 families were affected by the floods and 4.108 houses got major damaged.
Mr. Gusmão added that the authority also recorded 44 death during the floods, but the number 10 remained missing.
“SSCP recommends to the family to continue searching for the body of the ten people who remained missing, adding that the disaster happened out of everyone’s consciousness,” he said.
he added that until now SSCP continues to collect the data from the victims affected by the natural disaster to be able to access humanitarian support from the Government.
