TradeInvest participates in the 90th Meeting of the ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Investment

DÍLI, 17 August 2026 (TATOLI) – The TradeInvest Timor-Leste delegation was led by the Executive Director, Mr. Duilio Marino G. Araújo da Silva, and accompanied by the Deputy Executive Director, Mr. Roberto Lai; Executive Secretary, João Carascalão; and Senior Technical Officer supporting the Office of the Deputy Executive Director, António Lopes.
The 90th ASEAN CCI Meeting served as an important platform for ASEAN Member States to exchange information, discuss investment priorities, and strengthen cooperation towards fostering a stable and attractive investment environment across the region.
On the same occasion, the TradeInvest Timor-Leste delegation also participated in the Workshop on Strengthening ASEAN Investment Dispute Prevention and Management: The Role of Mediation and ADR under ACIA, held on 14 August 2026 in Bangkok.
The workshop was jointly organised by the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) and the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), with the objective of strengthening the capacity of government officials in the prevention, management, and resolution of investment-related disputes through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms, including mediation, in accordance with the principles of the ASEAN Comprehensive Investment Agreement (ACIA).
Timor-Leste’s participation in these activities reflects its continued commitment to strengthening regional cooperation in the area of investment, enhancing institutional capacity, and promoting a secure, stable, and attractive investment environment for investors.
These activities also provided Timor-Leste with valuable opportunities to learn from the experiences of ASEAN Member States and to further prepare for deeper regional economic integration.
