DILI, june 5, 2021 (TATOLI) – One hundred thousand doses of Sinovac vaccine have already arrived in Timor-Leste, on a My Jet Express flight from China, which landed today, at 2:48 pm, at the Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport, in Comoro, Dili.
As part of the delivery of Sinovac’s vaccine by the Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Xiao Jianguo, the Deputy Prime Minister, Armanda Berta, thanked, on behalf of the Government, the Chinese Executive.
“Sinovac’s vaccine aims to combat covid-19 in Timor-Leste,” said Armanda Berta, at the airport in Dili.
The Minister of Health, Odete Belo, also praised the “humanitarian spirit from the Chinese Government” with the donation of 100,000 vaccines to the Timor-Leste.
“Since last year [China] has supported the Ministry of Health with various equipment and medicines in the fight against covid-19”, She said.
The Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Xiao Jianguo, said that Sinovac’s vaccine is essential to face the new coronavirus.
“Sinovac’s vaccine support aims to fight the pandemic in Timor-Leste. The Government of China is committed to helping the Timorese state in any Critical situation,” he said.
The transport of the vaccine was supported by the World Food Program (WFP).
