Covid-19 Update: ICGC registers 98 cases of coronavirus infections, 214 recoveries, and 1 death

DILI, 08 june 2021 (TATOLI) – The Integrated Crisis Management Center (ICGC) today registered 98 new Covid-19 cases, 214 recoveries, and 1 death.

“Today ICGC records 98 Covid-19 cases, which made up of 80 cases from capital Dili and 18 in the municipalities and only 12.2 percent of these cases are symptomatic, while the rest are asymptomatic,” ICGC Coordinator, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said at Dili Convention Center, today.

He informed that of all new cases, the majority were between the age of 12 and 59, including a child under the age of 12 and two elderly individuals over 60.

The ICMC also today recorded another death from Covid-19 in capital Dili.

Dr. Araujo said the deceased was an 86-year-old man from Lirio Sub-Village of Motael Village in Dili, who had been under home isolation since may 30 after being diagnosed with severe Covid-19. Apart from Covid-19, the man also had underlying health conditions – cancer and chronic diseases and died yesterday.

Araujo added 20 patients were currently under treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center and four patients were critically ill.

In the last 24 hours, The National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 994 PCR tests, including 7 sentinel surveillance tests, 26 through contact tracing, 189 via random screening, 737 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 34 for the international travel authorization, and 2 in quarantines.

The health authorities kept urging the communities to strictly obey and practice the health and safety guidance that had been implemented since the country imposed a lockdown in Dili and other municipalities.

Timor-Leste has so far registered a total of 7,862 confirmed Covid-19 cases, with 18 deaths and 5,747 recoveries since the beginning of the outbreak of the pandemic in the country.
