DILI, 09 june 2021 (TATOLI) – The Company Telin Timor-Leste (Telkomcel), handed over two units of GeNose C19 to the National Ambulance Service and Medical Emergency (DNASH) of the Ministry of Health for the Covid-19 test.
These two GeNose C19 devices were handed over by the Telkomcel Manager Corporate Communication, Billing and Collection Communication, Oscar Lucio to Nilton da Silva, the Director of the National Ambulance Service, and Medical Emergency, at the DNASH’s office, today.
Telkomcel Manager Corporate Communication, Billing and Collection Communication, Oscar Lucio said the GeNose C19 was a breath-based COVID-19 detection device invented by Indonesian Gadjah Mada University, to accelerate the Covid-19 test, saying the diagnostic trial on the device revealed 89-92% sensitivity for detecting positive cases, comparable to RT-PCR (89%) and antigen-based rapid test (89.9%).
Mr. Lucio said among its advantages, the tool detected the infection through exhaled volatile organic compounds and gave the test result in only three minutes.
In addition, the Director of the National Ambulance Service Nilton da Silva said that previously Telkcomecel provided two ventilators to DNASH, which was helping the pediatricians at the Guido Valadares National Hospital to facilitate the treatment of the Covid-19 patients, particularly those children with Covid-19.
“This is the second time that we receive support from Telkomcel. Today, we receive two units of the GeNose C19. These two devices will facilitate our Covid-19 screening test,” Silva said.
Silva affirmed that both parties Telkomcel and DNASH would work together on how to put the GeNose C19 device into operation.
“On behalf of all staff of the DNASH, I would like to express my gratitude for your support,” said Silva.
