Timor-Leste exports  100 ton of dry konjac  to Thailand

DILI, 15 june 2021(TATOLI)– The Director of Same Diak Construction Company Tji Vu Sing (Vu) said they have been cooperated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries to collect 100 tons of dried Konjac to be exported to Thailand.

“Same Diak Construction (SD) Company has been cooperating with other local companies as well in purchasing local agricultural products across 12 municipalities and it is proven that today we already collected 100 tons of dried Konjac and we are very grateful to the Ministry of Agriculture for establishing a good cooperation with Thailand to buy our local product,” Vu Sing said.

According to Mr. Vu Sing, his companies and other local companies have been also working together to buy the local products from Timorese farmers, which is also including arabica coffee green beans, clove, turmeric, candlenut, copra and other local products which are yet to be exported.

However, the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Pedro dos Reis appreciates all local companies that have collaborated with the MAF for improving the agricultural sector.

“I am very proud and appreciate the local companies who have purchased local products from our farmers, saying when they buy local product more money stays in the community, with the income of the farmers they will change their lives and the country’s economy will grow better also motivate the local farmers to do their agriculture work,” He said. 

In addition, he said, many countries wish to buy local products from Timor-Leste but the important thing is, working together with the farmers to produce a lot of local products.

“Countries that have been willing to buy our agricultural products are Thailand, Indonesia, the United States of America, and several other countries,” He said.

At the same time, Minister Reis express his deepest appreciation to the Government of Thailand through its Ambassador to Timor-Leste Ekapol Poolpipat for the promotion of Timorese local production to his Country.

“On behalf of the Government of Timor Leste through the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Royal Thai Ambassador to Timor Leste Ekapol Poolpipat who has promoted our local products to the Government of Thailand and today Timor Leste will export 100 tons of dried Konjac to Thailand,” He said.
