DILI, 18 june 2021 (TATOLI) – The State Secretary for Cooperatives Elizario Fereira said the Government of Timor-Leste through the State of Secretary for Cooperatives will commemorate the international day of cooperatives on July 13 next month.
“SECOP will commemorate International Cooperative Day with the theme “We Better Together “with the aim that all cooperative members united to work together with our farmers to increase local products to face the threat of hunger,” said Fereira to journalists of TATOLI News Agency in SECOP office Acait, Dili on friday.
He explained that this International Cooperative Day commemoration will hold various seminars which will be presented by experts in the field of cooperatives and the International Cooperative Alliance Organization will also be present to share knowledge of cooperatives with members of the Cooperatives of Timor-Leste.
The purpose of this seminar is to share knowledge with all members of the Cooperative so that they will have the skills to develop their Cooperative in Timor-Leste.
Based on data from the Secretary of State for Cooperatives, there are about 97 members of Cooperative organizations operating in 12 Districts including RAEOA.
We hope that with the enthusiasm of the cooperative members, they will be able to mobilize farmers to increase their productivity so that they can prevent hunger and the people’s economy can grow without depending on petroleum’s funds.
The function of the Cooperative is how to orient our farmers to use their 10 fingers and produce abundant products for consumption and also for sale.
With this cooperative members and farmers can contribute to the state and to the welfare of the people and the state of Timor-Leste.
