DILI, 25 june 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, registered 23 new cases of COVID-19, with 55 recoveries, and the active cases were 868.
Of the new cases, 13 were detected in capital Dili, while the rest were detected in the municipalities, including 1 each in Baucau and Viqueque, 2 in Babonaro, and 6 in Covalima municipality.
The spokesperson of CIGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that of the 23 new cases, 13 percent were symptomatic.
Araujo said of today’s cases, 20 were between the ages of 12 and 59, including a child under 12 and 2 elderly persons over 60. These new cases were made up of 13 men and 10 women.
Araujo added 16 patients were under treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center and 1 patient was in critical condition.
Since yesterday, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 684 PCR tests, including 109 through contact tracing, 64 via random screening, 478 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 20 for the international travel authorization, and 13 in quarantines.
The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 3.4 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 7.2, Manatuto 7.8 and Baucau 4.7.
The CIGC reiterated its call on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus in the country despite the ICGC’s records showing a slight drop in cases over the past few weeks in the capital Dili and some municipalities.
There has been a total of 8.912 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 8.024 recoveries, active cases were 868 and 20 deaths, according to data of the CIGC.
