RYLA-TL continues to hold Camp Program in 2021 on Pandemic Situation

DILI, 28 june 2021 (TATOLI) – The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Timor-Lorosa’e (RYLA-TL) will continue to carry out the Camp Program (campground) for 2021, in order to facilitate potential young people even the country is facing COVID-19 situation.

Camp Program is one of the character building programs from RYLA-TL which has been held since 2010, and this program will involve young people aged 19 to 28 years.

The Director of RYLA-TL, Jorão da Costa explained, RYLA-TL will continue to hold a camp program this year, in order to increase the potential of young people in preparation for the future.

“All activities have been paused since the country was affected by the pandemic situation in last march, 2020, however this crucial situation has been going on. In the pandemic situation the implementation of seminars, training or activities are stopped for young people. For this reason RYLA intends to carry on the opportunity for the youth capacity empowerment to participate and provide opportunities for expression of youth people,” The  RYLA-TL, director,  Jorão da Costa to TATOLI, said this week in his office at Ballide.

He informed that currently the volunteer team from RYLA-TL camp in 2021 is preparing for the camp which is expected to be held in October. This year, RYLA-TL will reduce camp program participants, in order to follow the COVDI-19 health protocol.

“Every year we enroll 86 young people to take part in the camp program and last year we registered 100 people. The young people are very enthusiastic to join this program, in this year we want to enroll 86 people, and it is an ongoing pandemic in this country. Thus, this number of participants will be reduced to 50 participants,” he explained.

In this program, RYLA-TL will select and interview RYLArian candidates who have great potential to join the Camp for a whole week, which will later present well-known political figures and several businessmen in TL to provide motivation and briefing.

The cam program will be planned in Maloa area, Bairro pite village and Don Aleixo Municipality.

He recalled that since 2010 and 2021, 985 young people have participated in RYLA-TL’s programs, but this figure does not include other RYLArians who have joined Rotary Australia since 2002.

The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a leadership program coordinated by Rotary Clubs around the world. Every year, thousands of young people participate in this program.
