DILI, 08 july 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, records 63 new cases of COVID-19, with 46 recoveries, and the active cases were 904.
Of the new cases, 43 cases were detected in capital Dili, while the rest were identified in the municipalities, including eight in Manatuto, five in Lautem, four in Baucau and one each in Ainaro, Bobonaro, and Ermera municipality.
The spokesperson of CIGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that of the 63 new cases, 17.4 percent were symptomatic.
He said of today’s cases, the 57 were between the ages of 12 and 59, including four children under 12 and two elderly persons over 60. These new cases made up of 32 men and 31 women.
Araujo informed that 11 patients were under intensive treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center, where one patient was in critical condition.
Since yesterday, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 708 PCR tests, including 41 sentinel surveillance tests, 42 through contact tracing, 17 via random screening, 607 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, and one in quarantines.
The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 4.1 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 10.3, Baucau 7.1, and Viqueque 3.8.
The CIGC reiterated its call on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO, saying it is important for everyone to keep combating the spread of the virus in the country by obeying public health and social measures. Despite the country has been recording a relatively lower number of COVID-19 infections currently, in the capital Dili and some municipalities.
There has been a total of 9.657 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 8.728 recoveries, active cases were 904 and 25 deaths, according to data of the CIGC.
In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 222.138 (29.4 %) had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Of the number, around 26.464 (3.51 %) have also received their second dose of the vaccine.
