DILI, 17 july 2021 (TATOLI) – Minister of Tourism, Trade and Industry (MTCI) established a Social Credit (Suave) program for Timorese entrepreneurs to run their business and open job opportunities for Timorese people.
This program helps Timorese entrepreneurs for business development in some areas composed of industry, tourism, trade and agriculture and fishery.
“This program is currently supporting some entrepreneurs developing their business activities that refer to the productive sectors through social business guidelines. This program encourages Timorese entrepreneurs to invest for some local product and crease innovative ideas to contribute for economy growth in Timor-Leste,” the Minister of Tourism, Trade and Industry, José Lucas do Carmo da Silva told TATOLI Agency in his office, in Fomento Mandarin, Dili on friday.
He added that currently MTCI has received nine of company profiles composed of Vanilla Production company, Coconut oil transform for cooking oil company, Kakao or chocolate Production company, Cooking items production company, Salt company, Honey production company, Coffee production company, Animals foods company and seaweed production company.
MTCI encourages Timorese entrepreneur’s men, women, and disability persons to submit their business planning and propose to develop activity in productive areas.
Thus, in this initiative program, MTCI has identified four of companies qualified for their company profiles to access credit in the bank.
Silva said that this opportunity is offered to all people to participate in this program to create job opportunities for other people to get some permanent income and contribute to the tax fee of this nation.
The program is aiming to bring back all Timorese entrepreneurs who have suffered due to the critical situation that Timor-Leste country faces and many business people lost their income.
Vice Minister of MTCI, Domingos Lopes Antunes considers this a social trade program and involves all people in all municipalities to create their own business. This program will help to respond to some social issues such as unemployment, poverty and starvation.
To ensure all businesses are able to benefit for any income and well development of business, MTCI in cooperation with Institution of Evaluation, Entrepreneur Development (IADE), United National Development Program (UNDP) and National Trade Bank of Timor-Leste (BNCTL).
The coordination on this program is to provide in very low interest rate 3% offers to Timorese entrepreneurs to run their business. This low interest rate of 3% is just offered by BNCTL as a Timor-Leste’s bank.
