DÍLI, 07 August 2026 (TATOLI) — Timor-Leste will host the 25th Asian Liturgy Forum in Dili from Sept. 21 to 26, 2026. Organised by the Timorese Episcopal Conference (CET), the high-level regional gathering will bring together bishops and experts from across Asia to discuss how the Catholic liturgy can engage in meaningful dialogue with the region’s diverse cultures while respecting different religious beliefs and cultural traditions.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, on Thursday received a courtesy call from Father Mariano Quintão do Rego, Personal Assistant to the Apostolic Nuncio to Timor-Leste, who briefed the Minister on preparations for the 25th Asian Liturgy Forum, to be held in Dili from 21 to 26 September 2026.

During the meeting, Father Mariano requested the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MNEC), particularly in protocol matters, to assist the Organizing Committee of the Timorese Episcopal Conference (CET) in ensuring the successful organization of the event.

The forum is expected to promote greater understanding between different cultural and religious traditions while respecting each nation’s religious beliefs and cultural identity.

The forum will be presided over by Cardinal Dom Virgílio do Carmo da Silva, Dom Norberto do Amaral, and Dom Leandro Maria Alves, with contributions from experts in liturgy, culture, sociology, anthropology, and traditional spirituality.

To date, delegations from seven countries, comprising more than 30 participants, have confirmed their attendance.
