DILI, 23 july 2021 (TATOLI) – The former Ambassador of Timor-Leste (TL) to South Korea , Adalgiza Ximenes asked the new Ambassador to maintain the program of sending workers and scholarships.
“I have prepared further and have given it to the Ambassador, during 2020 until now we have not made any new progress due to COVID-19, but the new Ambassador must be present to represent the TL in South Korea and continue the existing cooperation program,” said Ximenes after conducting meeting with Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak today at his residence Farol.
She added that during her term of office She only continued 11 cooperation programs that had been set by the two countries, one of which was sending Labour from TL and also supervising scholarships.
“I’m just continuing the program that was held in 2010 that is sending workers to South Korea, and also paying attention to students from TL who have received scholarships from the South Korean government that have been provided since 2008,” she said.
Ximenes explained that during her tenure, She continued to negotiate with investors on the agricultural oil sector and also introduced TL in South Korea.
The meeting between the former South Korean Ambassador and the Prime Minister was token of her appreciation for the trust given by the TL government until it was concluded in april this year.
The TL government has also chosen Gregório J. da C. F. de Sousa to represent TL in South Korea but is still waiting for the inauguration of the President of the Republic.
