DILI, july 28, (TATOLI)- The Government of Timor-Leste, through the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs (CMEA), Joaquim Amaral, today, held a meeting with the Development Partners (TLDP), aims of supporting Timor-Leste joint to economy integration regional (EIR).
The ambassador of Portugal to Timor-Leste, José Pedro Machado Viera said that today’s meeting is an annual meeting between the Timorese Government and partners to discuss the contributions of development partners in the construction of Timor-Leste.
José Pedro Machado Viera said that Portugal is committed to supporting the Timorese Executive in professional training, the development of human resources, and the production and marketing of coffee in the market.
The government of Portugal is taking the opportunity to reiterate the commitment to supporting Timor-Leste in very specific areas.
“For the professional training area, both countries have already confirmed what are interesting things that need to be developed. also, we are yet to create any programs amid covid-19, We are also dealing with the matter of cooperation with the European Union in the context of the European team,” Ambassador José Pedro Machado Vieira commented on the meeting with the MCAE at the Ministry of Finance building in Aitarak Laran.
Besides discussing regarding Portugal’s contribution to the improvement of coffee production and its price in the market, José Pedro Machado Viera said that Portugal fully supports Timor-Leste’s membership in the regional organization (ASEAN) and integration in the World Trade Organization (WTO).
“We have always supported the integration of Timor-Leste into ASEAN and Portugal also chairs a working group in Geneva to support the integration of Timor-Leste into the High Trade Organization,” he said.
Also, Nur Hidayah Mohd, Chargé d’Affaires said that even in a pandemic situation, Malaysia will continues its training and capacity building effort through the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program (MTCP) in various areas including economic, trade and agriculture.
