COVID-19 update: Timor-Leste records 68 new cases, 22 recoveries and active cases at 1.026

DILI, 01 august 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, registers 68 new cases of COVID-19, with 22 recoveries, and the active cases were 1.026.

Of the new cases, 49 were detected in Ermera Municipality, eight in Dili, while the rest were identified in other municipalities, including six Covalima, two each in Baucau and Viqueque, and one in RAEOA.

The spokesperson of SIJK, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said of today’s cases, 47.1 percent were symptomatic.

He said of today’s cases, 62 were between the ages of 12 and 59, including six children under 12. These new cases are made up of 30 men and 38 women.

Araujo informed that 20 patients were under intensive treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center, where 19 patients were in mild condition, while one was in moderate condition.

In the last 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 300 PCR tests, including 135 through contact tracing, five via random screening, 159 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, and one for the international travel authorization.

The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 6.7 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Ermera 43.8, Dili 4.9 and Viqueque 4.7.

The CIGC reiterated its call on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus in the country despite the ICGC’s records showing a slight drop in cases over the past week in the capital Dili and some municipalities.

There has been a total of 10.966 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 9.911recoveries, active cases were 1.029 and 26 deaths, according to data of the Ministry of Health.

In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 289.068 (38.3%) had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.  Of the number, around 99.057 (13.12%) have also received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
