DILI, August 3, 2021 (TATOLI)– The Secretary of State for and Culture (SSAC) and ENI oil Company to construct National Library of Timor- Leste in 2022.
The idea was initiated in the 4th period of Constitutional Government, with the amount allocated for the construction of the National Library around $10 million coming from ENI oil company based in Bayu Undang.
“The project construction is still on the bidding process and will officially announce soon,” The National Director for Library and Museum of Timor- Leste, Joao Fatima da Cruz told Tatoli at Av de Portugal Praia Dos Coqueiros, today.
Mr. Cruz added that the Timor-Leste government has provided $1.5 Million for the construction of the first period.
The fund was executed $888.000 thousand focuses on sight work, constructions of Fences, road, and drainage and $825 is referred to the project consultant.
“The first period has been executed since 2017,” Mr Cruz said.
Timor-Leste government through the Secretary of State for Art and Culture Will provided an additional fund of $.500.000 to complete the construction items.
It is recalled that the bidding process should be announced last march 2021, however, the country was encountered a Natural Disaster and Pandemic of covid-19.
According to Mr. Cruz, the bidding construction has been completed by the three companies and the result will be announced officially.
The duration of the construction will be 18 months however will have additional months.
Mr. Cruz informed the TLNL building will be constructed in Hudi Laran areas with the largest of 27 square meters.
Currently, the TLNL is providing more than 8.000 books, composed of Science, History, Mathematics, and others.
“These books are composed of three versions, Portugues, English and Tetum languages. But meanwhile, the books are mostly Portuguese books and more books will be available once the construction is done to help the students to develop their knowledge,” He said.
