COVID-19 update: TL records 213 new cases, and 206 recoveries

DILI, 13 august 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, record 213 new cases, 206 recoveries, and the active cases were 1.829.

Of the new cases, 104 were detected in Dili, while the rest were identified in other municipalities, including 37 in Ermera, 13 in Aileu, 12 each in Baucau and RAEOA, 11 in Ainaro, 10 in Covalima, eight in Liquica, four in Bobonaro, and 2 in Manufahi.

The spokesperson of SIJK, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said of today’s cases, 34.3 percent were symptomatic.

He said of today’s cases, 164 were between the ages of 12 and 59, including 41 children under 12 and eight elderly persons over 60. These new cases are made up of 94 men and 119 women.

Araujo informed that 29 patients were under intensive treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center, where seven patients were in critical condition.

In the last 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 678 PCR tests, including 17 sentinel surveillance tests, 146 through contact tracing, 94 via random screening, 343 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 24 for international travel authorization and 54 in quarantines.

The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 9.6 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 18.3, Ermera 15.3, Covalima 10.9, RAEOA 10.1, Aileu 6.6, Bobonaro 6.4, and Ainaro 5.4.

The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus as the SIJK’s records showed cases are again mounted in Dili, Ermera, and several municipalities.

Health authorities warned that the Delta variant may have spread to other municipalities, where cases are spiked recently.

There has been a total of 12.272 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 10.414 recoveries, active cases were 1.829 and 29 deaths, according to data of the Ministry of Health.

In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 44.4 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 16.2 percent have also received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
