DILI, 18 august 2021 (TATOLI) – The Director of Raes Hadomi Timor Oan (RHTO) Joaozito dos Santos said the Embassy of Australia through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and Partnership of Human Development (PhD) has been donating U$200,000 to RHTO since 2016 to facilitate all the RHTO’s programs in Timor-Leste.
Joaozito dos Santos said the $200,000 budget is being used to cover the programs and operational costs including the one-year salaries for the 46 employees of RHTO.
The programs were, Health training program, at this point the training are provided for medical professionals regarding inclusive health service for person with disability, language training program, computers and development crafts training program, the program on humanitarian support on COVID-19 and floods, and advocacy on the accessibility of water ramps and handrails to schools programs.
Santos said, the budget is also used for disability subsidies, payments of birth certificates, identity cards, etc.
“Disability subsidies allocated to support the education of disabled students in the elementary to high school,” He said.
According to Santos, these programs cover eight municipalities including RAEOA: Manatuto, Viqueque, Lautem, Manufahi, Ainaro, Covalima, Ermera, Liquiça, and RAEOA.
Since the implementation of these programs, more than 1,000 people with disabilities with 1,500 disabled students including some community members already benefited from this program.
