KOICA commits to support  the development of sports in TL

DILI, 07 september 2021 ( TATOLI) -The Consultant of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Timor Leste, Yung Young Koh, said KOICA is committed to supporting the development of sports and building the sports infrastructures in Timor-Leste.

“All programs have been mutually agreed by the Government of Korea and Timor-Leste and will be implemented next year. We wish to provide opportunities for young people to develop their skills. This project has 5 priorities consisting of; providing football training to young people, provide training to local coaches to develop football in Timor-Leste, Increase the knowledge of young people about the importance of sport, building sports facilities and the last one is to research young people who take part in this program to evaluate their talents further,” said young to TATOLI Agency today.

This project was carried out based on good coordination between the Government of Timor – Leste and the South Korean Government.

The Government of Timor -Leste through the Secretary of State for Youth and Sports (SEJD) has agreed with The South Korean Government through KOICA to build 3 football fields in Dili, to be located in Kampung Alor, Bidau Santana, and Comoro, and another Sports center in Kulau, Becora next year.

The total budget for the projects is $6.5 million with a duration between 2022-2025.
