DILI, 08 september 2021 (TATOLI) – Minister of Transport and Communications José Agustinho da Silva informed that the fiscal year 2022 budget estimate for the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) is US$ 8 million.
“In 2020, MTC’s budget was US$ 11 million, but now it is reduced to only US$ 8 million for the Fiscal Year of 2022,” Silva told reporters at the Ministry of Finance, in Dili, today.
Silva said the US$ 8 million will cover salaries and wages, goods and services, minor capital, infrastructure development, etc.
He said during the discussion with the Budget Review Committee (BRC) at the Ministry of Finance, MTC presented several proposals, requesting an additional budget to support the work of MTC in 2022.
“So, MTC had requested an additional budget of US$ 2 million,” Silva said.
“The MTC requested the additional budget to support the work of MTC. For instance, we need more budget for the National Directorate of Land Transport to produce driving licenses and the vehicles’ registration numbers. Currently, we are having difficulties with producing these things because we don’t have enough budget,” said Silva.
